DIY CRAYONS
Ok so we aren’t going to make crayons really but we are going to use old crayons to make new crayons.
This is a great way to use up broken crayons or just make them a bit more appealing if they have lost their pizzazz.
They are super simple to make and kids find them really impressive.
We used a pirate mold that I bought on Ebay. If you search silicone molds you will find them in pretty much any shape or size. They are inexpensive, I think ours cost about $8. We did lose some of the cross bones when we removed them from the mold so perhaps best to go for a slightly simpler shape.
What you need
- Crayons
- A silicone mold
- A sharp blade and or scissors
TO MAKE
1 . start by removing the wrappers from your crayons. The best way to do this is by scoring all the way along the wrapper with a sharp blade. You can just try and peel them off but its slow and pretty annoying.
2. break the crayons into little bits. You can do this by hand or use scissors if you want the pieces smaller (to fill corners etc)
3. Put them in an oven preheated to 120C for about 10-15 mins. Remove them carefully then let cool for an hour before removing them from the molds.
ALL DONE!
These would make great party favors don't you think?
