Egg Carton Treat Holder

I have so many fun memories of searching the Christmas tree for hidden treats. Nothing better than thinking you have eaten them all only to find a secret one hiding right up the back! These treat holders are a homage to that feeling, but they’re even better because you can refill them! So gather your egg carton and let’s get making.

What you need:

  • Egg carton

  • Paints

  • Markers (optional)

  • String

  • Cotton thread for tassel version

  • Single hole punch

  • Treats or bells

To make:

  1. Cut out the cone shapes from inside the egg carton. There should be five of these in a standard dozen egg box. Trim them so their edges are straight.

  2. Paint and decorate.

  3. Punch a hole in each side of each of the cones. 4 holes per cone.

  4. Poke a small hole on the top of one cone using a skewer or similar and thread through a loop of string. Tie a knot underneath so that it doesn’t pull through the cone.

  5. Add a small chocolate treat, jingle bell or secret Christmas message inside one cone. Using a piece of thread lace up the two sides of the cone and tie with a ribbon on the front.

  6. To make the tassel version, just use one cone and threes tassels through each of the four holes, or make one big tassel and attach to the inside of the cone.

  7. Hang and enjoy!
